Bonnaroo 2008

One of the greatest experiences in my entire life was getting to go to the 2006 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival  in Manchester Tennessee (I got to see Tom Petty, Radiohead, Beck, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Rusted Root, Les Claypool, Nickle Creek, Matt Costa and many many more great musicians).  Looking at the musician lineup for this years event is causing me to seriously consider going back again.  I won’t lie and say Bonnaroo is cheap (in 2006 the cost of tickets, travel, food and supplies, and everything else probably put me out a good $650 to $700) but it is an unreal experience especially if you are a big lover of live music performances.  There are just so many people and so many things to see.  Sights, smells, sounds, it blows your mind (it probably doesn’t help that the air is almost completely saturated with pot smoke and that you’ve been drinking none stop since you got there).  Bonnaroo was awesome and I’ve wanted to go back real bad since I first went.  In 2006 I went with my younger brother and three of his friends which was okay and cool and all but I had just finished my junior year of college and my brother and one of his friends had just ended their freshman year (the other two friends had both taken a year off of school) and so it was a little strange being with people quite a few years younger than me (I guess I was suppose to be the responsible one — like that would have ever worked out).  If I ever go to Bonnaroo again I intend to go with people who are my friends because then I think that I would really enjoy it (not that I didn’t in 2006 but it was a little different).  Anybody interested in going?  I bet I’ll have some vacation time to take by June and driving from Greenville won’t be the twenty plus hours it took us to get to Manchester  from Vermont.

  1. You should totally go. Tickets go on sale Saturday! I went in ’05 and ’07 and I hate myself for skipping 2006. A good time will be had by all!
