Great patron question of the day
Patron: Do you believe that Jesus was a black man?
Me: I don’t know, I’ve never really thought about it
Patron: (laughing) Yeah you have! Yeah you have! You work at the library!

Honestly I kind of wanted to respond “do you believe that Krishna was the blue skinned avatar of Vishnu?” but something stopped me from saying this.
Is this a serious question? I hate to be all serious when people are really trying to be funny. Jesus was (and is) a Jew. Likely quite dark-skinned but not black. Seen any pictures of people who are native to that area today, either Jew or Arab or whatever? Many are very dark, but not African black. We all want to see Jesus as looking like us. Chinese art depicts Him with east Asian features. Does it matter?
