Well Said
Susan Jacoby’s piece on “elite” and “elitism” appearing in the New York Times today is excellent! I have long felt much the same way. We should not strive to consider something elite as being synonymous with bad or unsavory, in fact we should be proud to have elite thinking and thinkers in our nation. Ignorance is the bane of humanity in my opinion because it is through ignorance that often times things like hate form. Of course one has to be careful with elite thinking as well. Sure elite means better but in my opinion, a general egalitarian humanist view, all people deserve to be treated equally regardless of education and skill. Don’t bash elite because, honestly, doing so is ignorant and unbecoming.
Thank you for being French today. Finally.
