Tough Economic Times; In Praise of Public Libraries
I’ve been trying, for awhile now, to spread the good word about the value of public libraries (admittedly a big part of this is because I have long been working for libraries myself). As such I am very fond of this article from the Huffington Post that talks some of the value of public libraries during tough economic times. I am very proud of the fact that the Harris Poll found that 75% of Americans have library cards, which is a 10% increase from two years ago. Use your library, they are great places that offer all sorts of valuable resources beyond just checking out books.
