On Beer . . . and Why it is Wonderful

So beer posting this morning.

First: My pal Evan posts about U.S. Breweries per capita over at the Orangecoat blog. I love the map, it does a pretty good job at letting you know what states you probably want to visit if you are looking for some good beer.  I also love how the whole low beer producing region of the U.S. south is referred to as “Bourbon Country.”  While it would be nice to see some more brewing popping up in the south, you really can’t knock the bourbon production.

Next:  My wonderful brother, doing his job being a good lil’ journalist, directed me to Beer Styles on Brewtown.org in response to my inqury as to the difference between Stouts and Porters on my previous post.  Check out the PDF at the top of the page, it was compiled for the Brewers Association by Charlie Papazian (yeah, that Charlie Papazian).  Seriously, if oyu ever have any questions about beer styles just pop open this PDF and you can probably find the answer.  Wonderful!  Good work on the research front Ian!

Let’s see . . . what else.  Not really a whole lot I guess.  I am currently awaiting the arrival of new beer ingredients (hopefully sometime this week).  I won’t go into too much detail, besides saying this is the first beer in which I have just bought the ingredients for a recipe instead of buying a kit of ingredients (the wheat beer I made a few months back was not a kit beer, but Evan -yes, the guy from above – had bought all the ingredients, so it didn’t really count for me).  I’m looking forward to it.

Anything else?  To all my beer drinking and loving friends, let me know what else is rockin’ in the beer world.
