Presidential Homebrews

You are free to think what you want about the presidency of Barack Obama, but I have to say, it is pretty flippin’ jazzy that he bought homebrewing equipment for his White House chefs and that they, in turn, have so far produced three different homebrews for the POTUS.  I like knowing that our Commander-in-Chief is a beer fan, and I like that he is supportive of homemade brews.  Additionally, I think it is pretty cool that the three beers that the chefs have made so far all utilize honey from the bee hives currently on the White House property.

So here is my suggestion to these White House chefs and Mr. President; release this shit!  Seriously, I think there would be a lot of people who’d be real stoked to try some White House beer.  If there is concern about the marketing or something, in the very least share the brewing recipes with folks so that they can try to brew their own presidential brews.  Furthermore, I think that this should become a presidential tradition, where each new President adds a couple more White House beers to a collection (and if the sitting President isn’t a beer drinker – something that will hopefully never happen – they could, you know, brew rootbeer or something).

Anyways, just cool stuff.  Man, a Honey Porter sounds real good, might have to put that on my “to-brew” list for when we start getting honey from our bees.
