RIP Dave Brubeck

Legendary jazz pianist Dave Brubeck died today at the age of 91.  Brubeck’s iconic “Take Five” was one of the first pieces of jazz music that I could easily identify, but also one of the pieces, that got me more interested in jazz as a whole.  He really was a great contributor to the style and I am sure he’ll be missed, but his music will live on.

Update: Here is his New York Times obituary

One Response to “RIP Dave Brubeck”

  1. I suppose I should note, that Brubeck did not actually write “Take Five,” that was saxaphonist Paul Desmond, but, it was the Dave Brubeck Quartet that originally played it and made it so famous.
