. . . And back At It

Hey folks, I haven’t written here for a while.  Mostly this is because I was on vacation all last week (which was almost entirely done by just lazing around my house), but also because I haven’t had any thing too big to write about.  But now I’m back and hopefully can get back into the whole blogging thing again.

So, first, the big news, did y’all notice we were not obliterated in the Mayapocalypse?  Me too!  Not that I was ever all that worried.  But hey, still existing is good whether you suspected it or not.

Also, there was Christmas last week, for those of you who celebrate that kind of thing.  Got some fun and nice gifts this year.  The in-laws gave us a Nintendo Wii (the original, not the newfangled one with the letter “U” in the name), which we’ve been having a lot of fun with (especially with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which is both addictive and often very frustrating).  Also, high on my gift list, a lovely bottle of gin, The Botanist, which makes a mean pink gin and tonic (a normal gin and tonic with the addition of Angostura Bitters).  I love me some gin and this stuff is damn good.  Also, new sheets, which are so soft and nice, some delightful treats to eat, and a fantastic pirate costume (amongst other things).  In addition to gifts, there was an abundance of good food eating and all around holiday cheer enjoyment.  A great time!

Then there is the fact that I have a new phone, a smart phone no less, and an iPhone specifically.  It’s been nice to first and foremost have a working phone again, but, additionally, a phone that can do a bit more than just send and receive calls and texts.  The most noticeably benefit came while I was waiting for take-out chinese food the other night, and was able to read The New York Times while I sat there rather than counting those little dots on those ceiling tile thingies.  Yeah, that was pretty great.  But all around, a smart phone is something I’ve wanted for a while and I am glad to have one now.

What else?  Oh yeah, today is that last day of 2012.  So, um, there goes another year I guess.  All around I think I’ll give  2012 a B/B+.  Not bad, by any means, but not a perfect score either.  Overall there was a lot of good stuff going on in 2012, but there were a few bits of less than ideal happenings and occurrences.  So, going forward, here hoping that 2013 is just as good if not greater (I have some reasons to be optimistic, but for now I will just leave it at that). Anyways, hope your 2013 starts on the right foot (use a designated driver, because, I suspect getting arrested for a DUI does not start you on the right foot).
