Quoth the Non-Rhotic Raven, “Neveh’mah!”

A fun (and funny) little consideration about whether Edgar Allen Poe’s famed Raven spoke with a rhotic or non-rhotic accent.  Honestly, I would never have thought to read Mr. Poe’s famous poem with the raven having an accent that could make a Kennedy proud, but now, reading through it again, I really have to giggle.  You silly linguists, making use think about poems in a different pronunciation.

Anyhow, it is almost Halloween time, and The Raven really is a good little read  for the season.  So in the least take some time to check that out.
